Christopher Manos is the crime boss who reigns over the city of Haven Hart but for the last five years, his nature has been tempered by the loving devotion of his husband Snow and his nephew Simon (who he adores like a son). But a birthday trip for Simon is interrupted by a hail of bullets and explosions as they are taken. Snow has found a home, family and love from Christopher and so when they are kidnapped Snow risks everything to find his family. Using the special skills he learnt on the streets and those running a city that he learnt from his husband Snow takes on roles he never imagined he would as he becomes the protector, leader and avenger as no one threatens his family. Knowing he can't do this alone he calls in every favour he owed and promises favours in return to save his family and the man he loves. Sins of his family's past are coming back to threaten Christopher and even with the help of some unlikely and uniquely dangerous people, Snow finds himself wondering if their efforts will be enough to save the two most important people in his life. Will the loving family Snow has finally found be taken from him forever?
I loved this story as it pushed Snow so far outside of his normal role and comfort zone. Through it all, he used all of his skills and observations to do everything he could to find out who was holding his family and what he needed to do to save them. I loved that his love for this family was always front and centre in his motivation to get them back and that he would pretty much do anything that he deemed was needed to get them back. This was definitely a story full of emotion and a rollercoaster as they were taken and progress was made to find and then free them. I loved how even in his desperation Snow never stopped caring for the welfare of those in his wider family. Easy to read, feel and understand you will feel emotional at times as you read this. This MM story contains mature content and violence.
