Zavier “Cade” McCade is 38 and has had an illustrious military career as a former Army Special Forces Captain, now has a successful business and a close-knit group of family and friends. His post-military career is around his company Custos Securities, a burgeoning protection agency that provides unparalleled security for both civilians and corporations across the U.S. After some disastrous relationships Braden Cross owns and is the pastry chef at the Sugar n’ Spice Café with his best friend who concocts exotic coffees and teas. When a stalker sets his sights on Braden he is relieved when Cade steps in to offer his protection from the maelstrom of threats, break-ins, and vandalism which causes the two to draw closer together. Braden eventually realizes that he can trust Cade with his life, but he finds himself wondering - can he trust him with his heart?
I loved this story where both weren't sure about each other but just couldn't help themselves to be drawn together. Braden really was the mad professor type with his baking and getting swept up in his ingredients and ideas with no concept of danger and consequences whereas Cade was the archetypical protector who was really protective and determined to keep Braden safe. It was so sweet between then and definitely swoon-worthy. Easy to read, feel and understand I was definitely fully behind them and invested in this story. This story contains mature MM content and a BSDM-like D/s relationship.
