Stefan is a twin to Beau and a pro-Dom at a kink club but in the shared house he acts as the leader and organiser. Quinn is a home-based illustrator mostly for children's books which suits him as he also suffers from narcolepsy and cataplexy which means he can work around his strange sleep patterns. In a late-night conversation, Stefan and Quinn discover that they have a shared love of chess, family members that are not an active member of their lives for a variety of reasons and that they have a mutual attraction. It soon becomes clear that with open discussion Stefan will care for Quinn and carefully use pain to empower him in order to be an active participant in lovemaking. The question is whether Stefan will let Quinn help him to get past the pain from his family?
I loved this story with the eccentric dates (I loved the one in the cemetery) and the two men who worked out a way to love and care for each other while accepting each other's limitations. I loved how caring and protective Stefan was with Quinn and that it was done in a way to not smother or stifle him. Easy to read, feel and understand I was overjoyed to see that these two strong men were so perfect for each other. This an MM story containing mature content in a BDSM-like D/s relationship involving edging and pain-play.
