PI (Perfect Imperfection) is a secret society that has a new technology that enables the members to be transferred into a virtual world and once there they can alter their appearance, accelerate learning and utilise artificial intelligence and drones to achieve things in the real world. Billings Ball is a young man who could be considered ugly and very much a loner - his only interactions are with colleagues and his gaming friends online, so when he is in an accident he is "killed" and brought on-board to PI where he becomes a secret agent helping humanity. Blackbeard is an elite black-hat hacker who notices a pattern in some philanthropic acts and decides to use some false identities and new technology in order to uncover the identity of PI. He decides to blackmail PI with the threat of exposure and Billings gets involved in a face against time to find and stop Blackbeard using all of the tools at their command. Will Billings succeed to protect this new way of life of his or will Blackbeard win?

Wow - this is an amazing concept and idea that is very up to the limit in it's use of AI and drones, but also points out that they COULD be used for good and not the items of fear that many consider they are today. I loved this original story and enjoyed the way it developed and the events meshed together into this highly original story. It was well written and very enjoyable. I could relate to and understand everything and believe that even people who did not have as much of a technical background as myself could understand the concepts involved in this story.
