Dalton Fox comes from old money and his life is mapped out that he will become a lawyer, buy a house, get married and have children. He has the first two but is happy playing the field with his close-knit group of friends. Then he is hit with the surprise that he is married to someone from college - Carter Emerson Royce IV - and he wants him to come to New York and pretend they’re the perfect picture of domestic bliss. Ivey just needs to win over the co-op board for the most upscale building in New York so he can have the penthouse that he has wanted for years. When he is asked about his marital status he produces the marriage certificate between him and Dalton from Las Vegas. He just needs Dalton to come to New York, pretend they are happily married and in love, and then they can divorce and both be free. Dalton and Ivey are compatible in more ways than one, and the spark between them is very bright and very real. Dalton's life is in California and Ivey's in New York. and there is far more than them being legally bound, they just need to make decisions and move towards a future together.
I found the start of this story a little boring but as I got into it I became more invested and wanted a good result for them both (no matter their interfering fathers). I loved their passion and their devotion to each other once they made their final decisions. Their kinks fit together perfectly as Ivey was a service sub and Dalton a dominant. I loved the way that they did their best to handle problems that they faced together and talked to try and keep communication clear and open. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like D/s dynamic.
