Owen is one of the royal bodyguards and when he was younger he lost his heart to his best friend, then made a huge mistake and then Evan moved to Italy. After a few years, Evan is lured back and Owen cannot stay away any longer even though he has a lot to answer for and many apologies to make. Then things get dicey and they have each other's back even if it is the last thing that they do. Owen has no chance of protecting his heart because it already belongs to his best friend, but how do they survive when someone doesn’t want them to?
I loved this book with the best friends who loved each other so much but then Owen did something stupid and Evan put miles between them to try and cope. There were so many emotions and feelings involved in this story and the two men were central to all of that. Owen needed a giant kick in the backside and so I was thrilled when he finally sorted himself out. Evan's parents reinforced their status as a piece of work and so I was so glad he had Owen's Mum to help him. The plot against the bodyguard was interesting and moved on a pace. Easy to feel, read and understand I was addicted to this story. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like D/s dynamic.
