Review: The Warden by Charity Parkerson 4 of 5 stars

The Warden (Damaged Devils #8)

The Warden by Charity Parkerson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Years ago Sean fell in love with his father's second-in-command Warden and so he went away to protect himself and his heart. Now Warden is acting like he wants to them a shot as a couple by forcing him back but Sean will do anything to not make the same mistake he already made even if he has to walk away from his family for good this time. Warden knows he has a million things to repair between them as he had pushed Sean away at first. Even though he still doesn’t understand why Sean wants him in the first place, he’s moved beyond caring as long as he wins his man. It’ll just take a little scheming and a lot of luck. This time, he won’t let Sean get away.

I loved this story as I was hoping that Sean and Ward would finally end up together. Their relationship started with Sean crushing on the older man who was the second in command to his crime lord father but then Ward started to see Sean as an adult and the man he loved as opposed to the child he remembered. I think that Sean moving away helped in that process to remind Ward about what he was missing. This story had a lot of drama and a lot of emotional analysis but I did enjoy the decisive way that Ward moved when he had made up his mind. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.
