This is a story about Finch and his husband, Luca, a mafia Don. Finch wants a peaceful life, but their world of crime keeps putting them in danger. The couple is enjoying their life until Finch's sister gets into trouble, causing him to disobey Luca's orders and travel to Boston. This incident, combined with Luca's precarious hold on power within his decimated mafia family, forces them to leave New York for what feels like a second honeymoon in Las Vegas. Their new life is short-lived, however, when an assassination attempt proves they can't escape their past. Luca vows to eliminate his enemies to protect Finch, but a mole within the organization and threats from the past continue to put them both in danger, raising the question of whether they can ever truly be safe.
I loved this story which looks at Luca and Finch and what happened to them both after the first book in the series. I loved all the intrigue, plots, betrayals and at the centre of it, the deep connection and love between the two men. Family troubles took on a whole new level for them both but especially Finch. So many emotions and feelings were in this story and they were especially felt by Finch who is more sensitive. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
