This is a the second part of a story about Roe Finlay and Jake Denver, best friends whose lives and relationship are destabilized by buried feelings and emotional turmoil. Roe initially thought his life was stable—he had a wife, a child, and a successful career working alongside his best friend, Jake. However, he admits he is utterly dependent on Jake, needing him nearby just to "breathe easier." Roe's world is shattered when he discovers Jake's therapy journal, revealing emotional pain and instability beneath Jake's quiet exterior. This realization, combined with a near-death experience where Jake saves his life, forces Roe to confront the truth: nothing in their lives is settled, and their inseparable bond is about to face a major challenge.
I enjoyed this story with the two men who finally were together and accepting of their relationship. A lot of feelings and emotions as they adjusted their relationship and their relationships with those in their extended family. I loved the way that both men loved all the children in their blended family equally and made sure that no one was left out. This was an MM story with mature content.
