Review: Atlas & Miles by Lincoln Mercer 4 of 5 stars

Atlas & Miles (Gomillion High Reunion)

Atlas & Miles by Lincoln Mercer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a story of a grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract romance between Miles, a grumpy, closeted former jock and handyman, and Atlas, a "fabulous out-and-proud twink" and Daddy. Miles is thirty-seven, lonely, and secretly craving a Daddy to care for his needs. His life is shaken up when Atlas, a "gendersparkly" and openly queer man, moves back to town. Atlas is instantly determined to make Miles his, despite Miles being closeted. The story centres on Miles being forced to choose: keep his secret and remain alone, or finally come out and claim the sunshine human he desperately wants. The central conflict is whether Miles can risk his secret life for the love of the "out-and-proud" Atlas before it's too late.

I loved this story with the two men who were in the same year at school and how they reconnected. I loved the careful attention to pronouns and gender identity. Consent was also carefully handled as were the Daddy and boy roles. Lots of emotions and feelings as Miles worked through his issues revealing his sexuality and Atlas as they worked out their relationship. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.
