My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Mattie Blackwell returns to Sugar Pine hoping to heal old wounds, revive his art career, and finally settle down. What he doesn’t expect is to reconnect with Sam Benton—the man he once left behind. Sam’s life is unconventional but grounded, juggling web design and raising his nephew Toby. Though content, he quietly wonders if there’s more waiting for him beyond the daily routine. When Mattie and Sam cross paths again, it’s clear the timing that once failed them may finally be right.
I really enjoyed this novella which was a a cozy, second-chance holiday romance about rediscovering love, embracing change, and finding home in the most unexpected places. I loved their sensitivity of Toby and his needs even though he played matchmaker between them both too. Plenty of emotions and feelings in this story as they reconnected. This was an MM story with mature content.
