My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a story of Yanni Tomaras's journey from abuse and homelessness to finding love and self-acceptance. Yanni is disowned and religiously condemned by his family, leading him into the hands of an abusive predator named Lance. After escaping, Yanni is still paralyzed by fear until he is rescued and supported by Spencer Cohen and Andrew. As he begins to rebuild his life, Yanni develops an unlikely, deep connection with Peter Hannikov, a kind man twice his age, bonded over their mutual love for silent films. Their friendship quickly blossoms into something more. The story focuses on Yanni's process of self-discovery, moving from a life "caged by fear and self-doubt" to finally being taught "how to fly" by Peter.
I loved this deeply emotional story as Yanni was learning to live a normal life and move past all of the trauma of the past. The emotions and feelings felt very real and I could feel the despair and the joy as he worked through everything with his therapist, friends, chosen family and Peter. I adored Andrew's parents who became Yanni's family of choice. There was some light Daddy kink. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
