This is a story about Ethan Hosking, a man escaping a violent past who completely reinvents himself, and Patrick Carney, a lonely lighthouse keeper, who find an unexpected love on a remote island. Ethan seizes a chance to escape his abusive ex-boyfriend by faking his death in a bushfire and emerges as a new man, Aubrey Hobbs. With nothing but a telescope, he follows the stars to the remote town of Hadley Cove on Kangaroo Island. Patrick, the local lighthouse keeper, has lived a solitary life since the tragic death of his lover four years prior. When Aubrey, the mysterious stranger, arrives in town, he immediately captivates Patrick. The story follows these two men—one drawn to the stars, the other to the ocean—as they navigate the emotional storms of their pasts.
I loved this story which was a fragile romance with the potential to be an all-consuming love. I was completely captivated by their individual stories as well as their relationship. Everything felt real and was easy to feel and understand. I loved the side characters too. I was thrilled that they got the HEA that they deserved. This was an MM story with mature content.
