Review: Guarding Morgan by R.J. Scott 4 of 5 stars

Guarding Morgan

Guarding Morgan by R.J. Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After witnessing a murder by a corrupt cop, Morgan Drake becomes a hunted whistleblower with nowhere to hide. His only refuge is Sanctuary—a covert protection program that places him under the care of Nik Valentinov, a stoic bodyguard trained to stay detached. But isolation breeds intimacy. As danger closes in and the safe house turns into a battleground, Morgan and Nik must navigate ambushes, treacherous terrain, and the vulnerability of falling for each other. Their bond deepens, even as the world around them threatens to tear them apart. In a story where secrets kill and love might save, the question lingers: can they outrun the past—or will it consume them both?

I loved this story which was a tense, character-driven romantic thriller where survival and trust collide. The story used danger as a crucible for emotional transformation. It showed how love, when it arrives in the most unlikely of places, can be both a sanctuary and a battlefield. Morgan’s choice to speak up cost him everything—his home, his safety, his anonymity. But it also brought him into a space where he could be seen, not just as a witness, but as someone worthy of love. A lot of feelings and emotions in this story which were easy to understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
