Butch Buchanan has spent his life trying to forget the stuff he did as a teenager. He has also spent his fifty-two years on the planet convinced he was straight even though he tops the ranch's foreman whenever he has an itch to scratch. There is no intimacy then, so that is surely what straight guys do. But it has now become a rut going nowhere. Sol Davenport hasn't seen Butch since high school and his face brings back memories of a version of himself that he would rather forget as they were both assholes then. Butch is avoiding him which is a shame as he is hotter now than when Sol had a crush on him and was firmly in the closet. But many things have happened since then, like the heartache he yearns to forget. A heartache he will keep far from his door. Besides, Butch is the gayest straight man out there. As well as the major change that is on the way to Salvation, can these two haunted men exorcise their ghosts if they’re to have a chance of happiness?
I enjoyed this story with several plot twists and turns ready to either help or hinder them. Butch had to go through a major shift in his perception of his sexuality and then learn how to give up control to dominant Sol. Sol had his challenges with the tragedy from the past making him scared of a relationship in the future. So on both sides there were a lot of emotions and soul searching - be warned you will cry at times. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BSDM-like D/s relationship.
