My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Whalen is another man called in to investigate the strange events at the Arctic training camp only to find his old girlfriend Chrissy there. When they first meet there it is clear that she is still angry at him which doesn't give him the undercover existence he had hoped for. Chrissy joined the military because of Whalen to understand why he had chosen this life over her. She is still in love with him but all she wants is to finish her tour and head back home to open a bakery with her best friend. Too bad someone at the camp has other ideas. And it’s going to take everything the two of them can do to keep both of them safe even as others show up dead.
I enjoyed this continuation of the investigation as to what was going on at the Arctic training camp with all of the search for answers as curve balls headed for the inhabitants at the same time. Chrissy was a firecracker who was not prepared to give Whalen an easy ride after his previous lack of communication skills and he was clueless until he thought about a part of his life he was done and dusted (even though he still loved her). A dramatic event definitely stopped them short and made them reassess their priorities. Easy to read, feel and understand. This story contains mature content.
