Review: The Recluse by Silvia Violet 4 of 5 stars

The Recluse (Texas Safehouse #4)

The Recluse by Silvia Violet
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Recluse was a prisoner of war it still haunts his dreams most nights and he just exists trying his best to survive. Then he meets Carlo Marchesi sneaking about his cabin in the woods. Carlo is a mobster and supposed to be under guard at the main house but when he suggests a wicked way to pay for a night in Recluse's house he can't say no and can't hold back the real him. Being with Carlo makes Recluse feel more real than anything else but he has his own life back in Boston and they don't both have a great relationship track record. When Carlo’s enemies come for him, will love be enough to hold them together and help them to survive to build a life together?

I really enjoyed this story with the broken man and the mobster who was broken in his own way. The love and care that Carlo applied to Recluse's scars were special and showed him the right level of reverence. I loved that Recluse came so far outside of his comfort zone for Carlo and that he was prepared to work on himself to become the man that they both deserved him to be. Easy to read, feel and understand there are a lot of emotions in this story. This is an MM story with mature content.
