Review: Diablo by Cora Rose 3 of 5 stars

Diablo

Diablo by Cora Rose
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After leaving the Marines, Skylar becomes a personal bodyguard to support his family, taking on high-risk jobs—including one for mob boss Anthony Costello, his late father’s former employer. His latest assignment lands him in a remote safe house guarding Costello’s volatile son, Diablo. Despite Diablo’s rebellious antics and abrasive attitude, Skylar sees through the chaos to a young man desperate for something deeper. And against his better judgment, Skylar is determined to give him exactly that.

I enjoyed this story with the two men who were on opposing sides but were perfect for each other. It was a part emotional slow-burn, part reluctant protector trope with tension simmering just beneath the surface. I did struggle with their relationship dynamic and the way that Diablo was which meant that I struggled to relate to him. This was an MM story with mature content.
