Alex was one of the humans rescued from a blood farm run by vampires and is recovering in the shifter town of Salutem although he is not sure he ever will. Shifter Cyan Dubois loves living there although he wishes he had a mate to share it with. Cyan meets Alex he realises that at last he’s found his mate but will need to take it slow as Alex has suffered enough. When Alex turns away from Cyan, too afraid to be the mate Cyan knows he can be, Cyan is devastated. Can he wait for Alex to move past his fear or was their relationship doomed before it even began?
I loved the drama of this story and the sensitivity that Cyan treated Alex with. They had a good relationship before mating which was a good foundation for the future. The developments around the labs and their ability to save other shifters were interesting. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.
