Doreen loves gardening and sees a video online of a lovely xeriscaped garden to save water. Mack mentions that there is a mystery surrounding the property she is intrigued. Getting the details is hard because there aren't many but she digs in asking questions and it doesn't take long to delve into it in a big way (to Mack's disgust). Making a nuisance of herself might work sometimes, but too often it backfires. This time is no exception but she can't let go now.
This was an intriguing cold case for Doreen that was hidden away behind complex layers of relationships whether they were in the family or outside of it. I always love the way that Doreen just keeps asking questions in a nosy neighbour kind of way which the police just cannot do. As usual, this reveals more about human relationships and why sometimes it leads to murder. Easy to read, feel and understand.
