Vincent St. James, a former military man, lost everything, including his partner, when the military prioritised his sexuality over his service record. With a deep resentment for the government, Vincent finds another way to serve his country, but it comes at a steep price. When given the chance to repay a favour to a friend by protecting Nathan Wilder, a politician's son with a dark past, Vincent accepts. Nathan, who betrayed his twin brother and now opposes his father's political views, faces escalating threats. As Vincent and Nathan grow closer, Vincent realises that his feelings for Nathan go beyond protection. They must navigate the dangers and emotional complexities to find a way to be together.
I loved this dramatic story which was very emotional as Nathan worked through hidden emotions and feelings. Vincent was a product of his past but was almost powerless to resist the pull towards Nathan. There were lots of extreme emotions in their relationship which suited them both. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
