Michael Caldwell, a medical examiner in Chicago, leads a quiet life performing autopsies and watching detective shows. His life changes when he meets a mysterious man with jet-black hair, intense green eyes, and a confident demeanor. After the man protects him during an attempted robbery, Michael is drawn to him despite the shadows and possessiveness in his gaze. As secrets are revealed, Michael's life becomes a thriller, and he realizes he can never return to his old routine. The man's whispered words, "Never again," leave Michael questioning if he would even want to leave this new, intense reality.
I loved this intense story with the mystery of the step brothers and the psychopath who was fixated on Michael. There were lots of secrets, surprises and feelings in this story. I loved all of the characters who were clearly described and easy to relate to. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
