Hunter Penn, a P.I., has his life changed by a hellish moment and a painful decision. Years later, he encounters a long-bearded, red-headed man in an alley, leading to a brief and bloody encounter. Curiosity brings them together again, and despite Hunter's distrust, he recognizes the man's skills and needs his help to find out who is trying to kill him. The man, who calls Hunter by various nicknames, flirts incessantly and drives Hunter mad until Hunter forces him to his knees, discovering a new side to him. Hunter realizes the man is his, regardless of their broken pasts and dangerous lives. The only thing that matters to Hunter is being near him, protecting him, and showing him who he belongs to.
I really wanted to love this book but found their sexual relationship distracted me from the story with the constant fem-kink. The side characters made this story as they had the more interesting dialogue. Easy to feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
